Lampeter is a small market and university town inland in the Teifi valley, home to the oldest degree-awarding institution in Wales after the ancient English universities. It is a quiet, green base away from the coast, with an alternative, bookish streak.

Common questions

Is Lampeter worth staying in?

Lampeter suits those wanting a quiet, inland base in the Teifi valley rather than a seaside town. As a small university town it has independent shops and cafés, gentle countryside walks and good value, with the Ceredigion coast around 30 to 40 minutes away by car.

What is Cors Caron?

Cors Caron is a large raised bog (peatland) nature reserve north of Lampeter, crossed by boardwalks and a former railway trail. It is an important habitat for birds and other wildlife, and one of the finest examples of its kind in Britain.
