Mumbles is the genteel seaside gateway to Gower on the western edge of Swansea Bay, a curve of Victorian promenade ending at a pier and a lighthouse-topped island. Dylan Thomas called it "a rather nice village", and its cafés, ice cream and gastropubs still draw a steady crowd.
