Beddgelert
Postcard village where two rivers meet below the peaks.

Beddgelert is a small, flower-hung village at the meeting of the Glaslyn and Colwyn rivers, often called the prettiest in Snowdonia. It takes its name from the legend of Gelert, the faithful hound, whose "grave" is a short riverside walk from the bridge.
Staying near Beddgelert
A romantic, low-key base with the Aberglaslyn Pass and Snowdon's southern approaches on the doorstep. Cottages and lodges here are characterful rather than large — well suited to couples.
What's here
The riverside walk to Gelert's Grave and through the Aberglaslyn Pass is a classic. Sygun Copper Mine and the Welsh Highland Railway are both here, and the Watkin Path — Snowdon's most scenic route — starts nearby at Nantgwynant.
When to visit
Spring and autumn for the passes at their best; the Welsh Highland Railway runs mainly March to October.

Is Beddgelert good for a couples' hot tub break?
It is one of the best in Snowdonia for it — a small, scenic village with characterful cottages, riverside walks from the door and the dramatic Aberglaslyn Pass a few minutes away. It is quieter in the evenings than Betws-y-Coed or Llanberis.
What is the Watkin Path?
It is generally considered the most scenic route up Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), starting near Beddgelert at Nantgwynant and climbing past waterfalls. It is also one of the tougher routes, with a steep, loose final section to the summit.
